VIRGINIA BEACH -- Virginia Beach Delegate Algie Howell and Northern Virginia Delegate Bob Brink are resigning their seats in the Virginia House of Delegates.

Delegate Howell was first elected in 2004 and represents portions of Norfolk and Virginia Beach. He tells 13News Now his resignation is effective June 30.

Howell served on the House Committee on Appropriations, Committee on Health, Welfare and Institutions, Committee on Privileges and Elections, and the Committee on Rules. Algie is a member of the Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church, and served in the US Air Force from 1956 to 1960.

Brink announced Friday that he plans to resign June 30 and will join Gov. Terry McAuliffe's administration.

He's leaving to take a job as deputy commissioner for aging services at the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services.

Brink served in the House for 17 years and is currently on the House Appropriations Committee. He'd previously worked as a lawyer for the Department of Justice.
