NEWPORT NEWS - Tips to Crime Line do lead to arrests and help police close the book on crimes.
Newport News Police say a call to Crime Line just this week led to the arrest of a man for the March 18 robbery of the Family Dollar store at 6000 Jefferson Avenue.
30-year-old Oliver Charles Shelton was arrested the next day because someone called and gave anonymous information to investigators.
Shelton is charged with robbery.
The Crime Line number is 1-888-LOCK-U-UP and many localities also let you text a tip.
