NEWPORT NEWS -- Police arrested three people Monday who they say pushed a woman out of a car in Newport News last Friday and then assualted her.

According to spokeswoman Holly McPherson, a 23-year-old Williamsburg woman was punched in the face by her boyfriend 23-year-old Justin D. Hedgpeth around 1 a.m. while riding in a car with 27-year-old Lyndsey Sturgis and 40-year-old Dolores Thompson.

McPherson says they drove to Savannah Suites at 11715 Jefferson Avenue and Hedgpeth pushed the victim out of the vehicle and held her on the ground while Sturgis and Thompson again assaulted  her.

The three suspects fled with the victim’s purse and cell phone, McPherson said.

Police say the victim had bruises on her legs, cuts on her hands and below her eye and hair missing from her head.

Hedgpeth, Sturgis and Thompson are charged with abduction, malicious wounding by mob and grand larceny.
