DARE CO-- A man has been arrested for allegedly making threats against people at Cape Hatteras Secondary School.
Police say a resource officer at the school was told of threats allegedly made by 26-year-old Stefan Gray Schwartz of Buxton.
Police say deputies executed a search warrant at Schwartz's home and seized various items, however no firearms or other destructive devices were found.
According to Sheriff Doug Doughtie, "The Dare County Sheriff’s Office is taking this threat very seriously. We had already deployed additional deputies into our schools several weeks ago in response to the tragic violence in Connecticut. We have since added patrols and an extra presence in the Buxton area schools and the surrounding areas in Buxton as a result of this threat."
Schwartz was charged with making a false report that a mass violence is going to occur on educational property, which is a felony. He's also charged with injury to personal property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Schwartz is in the Dare County Detention Center in lieu of $204,000 bond.
Police say any unusual activity around schools should be reported by calling 911.
