CURRITUCK CO. -- The body of a 16-year-old boy has been recovered after an apparent drowning in Currituck County Saturday.
Currituck Count Sheriff Susan D. Johnson said several people reported they were having trouble in the water around 4 p.m. near the 15 mile post in the “Old Tides Inn” area.
Bystanders were able to reach two of the swimmers and pull them to safety but were unable to get to the third person, Johnson said.
The body of 16-year-old Thomas Harman was recovered Monday morning near mile post 13 and has been sent to the medical examiner’s office in Greenville, NC.
Harman is from Fuquay Varina, North Carolina.
