10:40 a.m. UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Adonus Deondre Turner, 17, of Hampton, according to police spokesperson Sgt. Jason Price.
Police have not yet released a suspect description. An investigation is still underway.
HAMPTON -- Police in Hampton are asking for the public's help in identifying those responsible for killing a 17-year-old boy Thursday night.
Emergency personnel received the call of a shooting in the 800 block of Downing Street around 10:49 p.m., according to the Hampton Police Division.
When officers arrived on scene, they located the teenage victim who appeared to be suffering from several gunshot wounds to his torso inside his residence. He was rushed to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries early Friday morning.
Investigators say the victim was shot after responding to the front door of his home.
Police say there were other people inside the home when shots were fired, but nobody else was hurt.
The motive and circumstances surrounding this case are still under investigation.
