CHESAPEAKE -- Police on Monday said a warrant was secured to charge the 15-year-old with involuntary manslaughter.

The family of the 16-year-old who died calls it an accident.

They say Jovan Lindsey and the 15-year-old, his best friend, were playing around with a gun Thursday night when it went off.

They were outside his Cobblewood Arch home.

The 16-year-old died Friday afternoon, police said.

The 15-year-old was initially charged with possession of a firearm and reckless endangerment.

He's being held at Chesapeake Juvenile Services.

Police say the investigation continues into who owns the gun.
