Custodian arrested for sexual assault at Hampton elementary school

HAMPTON -- A custodian has been arrested for an alleged sexual assault against a juvenile at Forrest Elementary School.

Police have charged 56-year-old Jerome Jenkins of the 200 block of Prince James Drive with aggravated sexual battery.

Police say they were contacted around noon Monday by school administration.

According to Police, Jenkins assaulted the girl at Forrest Elementary around 7:15 a.m. on September 13.

Officials told 13News Now that the victim is under the age of 13 and is not a student at the school. 

Jenkins has been a custodian with the school since 1998.

Jenkins remains in custody at the Hampton City Jail.
