WILLIAMSBURG -A William and Mary student faces 18 drug-related charges.

19-year-old Samuel V. Marshall was arrested Sunday, February 23, by the College police department, spokeswoman Suzanne Seurattan told WVEC.com.

The charges - seventeen felony counts and one misdemeanor count - relate to activity between Feb. 1 and Feb. 23 and include the sale of LSD, she stated.

Marshall, who is from Charlottesville, was a red-shirt freshman on the 2013-14 William & Mary Football team, she confirmed.

According to court documents, police became aware of  Marshall's alleged drug dealings when an individual reported that his friend went to the hospital for an LSD overdose.  He told police his friend bought LSD from Marshall.

Police then got a search warrant for Marshall's room.  Before the search, Marshall allegedly told police he had a marijuana smoking device along with some powder cocaine in his room.

According to court documents, Marshall admitted to selling LSD to eight individuals, the amount they purchased and what he charged.  The transactions allegedly took place on the campus of William & Mary.

Online court records show that Marshall is in custody and is due in court on March 27.
