VIRGINIA BEACH -- The clock is ticking on an initiative vital to the future of Naval Air Station Oceana.
A five-year-old land buyback program identifies land that isn't compatible with jet operations and purchases or re-zones it to meet the Navy's needs.
However, due to the ongoing financial crunch, money for the state's share of the program has been eliminated in one of the General Assembly's two budgets, and the legislative session is set to adjourn Saturday.
