7 p.m. UPDATE: Authorities searched a two-mile radius of marsh near the York River Friday night, according to Gloucester Fire Chief J.D. Clements, but nothing was found.

The search for the distress signal has been suspended.

GLOUCESTER CO. -- State Police are investigating a report of a plane in distress in the northern end of Gloucester County.

State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya tells 13News Now they were alerted by the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport around 3:15 p.m. Friday. 

Anaya says they are investigating, but nothing has been located.

The Gloucester County Sheriff's Department said they were alerted to a beacon signal going off in the northern end of the county.

Anaya says there have been no reports of missing planes.
