ELIZABETH CITY -- Elizabeth City Police credit social media sites for identifying an alleged hit and run suspect.

According to police, a 3-year-old child was struck on Cardwell Street Wednesday while getting the mail with his mother.

The woman driving the car initially got out of the car but then left without giving any information, police said.

Police then posted a partial vehicle desicpription and possible suspect description to Facebook and received a tip within 24 hours.

After receiving the tip, police questioned 31-year-d Quinetta Manley, who admitted to striking the boy but said she was fearful of the family, so she fled the scene.

Warrants for driving while license revoked and felony hit and run have been issued for Manley.

Officials say Manley is scheduled to turn herself in Friday.
