Beach schools put on lockdown for 90 minutes after police spot teen with gun

VIRGINIA BEACH -- Six Virginia Beach schools were on lockdown for 90 minutes Tuesday after police spotted a teen with a gun near Bayside High School.

The teen reportedly ran into the woods and the schools were placed on lockdown at 2:45 while police searched for the suspect.

The schools on lockdown were Luxford Elementary, Diamond Springs Elementary, Williams Elementary, Newtown Elementary, Bayside Middle, and Bayside High.

The lockdowns were lifted at 4:15 Tuesday according to a school system spokesperson.

13 News has learned that police are questioning a possible suspect and his parents. 

So far, no charges have been filed.
