ELIZABETH CITY, NC -- When Donnie Denny, the "singing plumber," placed second in the Oprah Winfrey Karaoke Contest last November, he won $100,000.
It was his big break into show business.
He's just back from Branson, Missouri, where he met with a group that wants him to be part of their new show.
Denny also is involved in a Fallen Hero project. A friend who lost a son in Iraq suggested Donnie to the songwriter of "Look Into The Face Of A Fallen Hero." The writer hooked him up with award-winning producer Dan Moody in Nashville.
"Didn't know there was going to be a major producer on it. (I) just volunteered for the purposes of wanting to do something good for somebody else and it seems when you do that it it ends up working out for you," he stated.
Denny records in Nashville in two weeks.
"We look forward to all the opportunities that it's given us and I just can't thank Oprah Winfrey enough for helping me to live my dream and sometimes dreams do come true" he said.
