YORK CO. -- Over the past month suspects have been throwing rocks at residences and vehicles, breaking windows and causing several thousands of dollars in damage, according to the York- Poquoson Sheriff's Office.

According to the Sheriff's office, all of the incidents occurred between 9 p.m. and midnight.

Damage has been reported in the 2000 block of Old York Hampton Highway, 200 block of Mastin Ave., 1000 block of Hornsbyville Road, 1000 block of Woltrap Road, 1000 block of York-Warwick Drive, 100 block of Mastin Ave., 100 block of South Fern Ct.,  200 block of Old York Hampton Highway and 100 block of Mays Landing.

Sheriff Danny Diggs believes this is random, even though one house has been struck four times.  Diggs believes the rocks are being thrown or shot with a projectile from a moving vehicle.

"This is disturbing.  A rock could hit a baby sleeping in a crib," Diggs said.

Some witnesses have reported a white, late-model Suburban or a silver SUV leaving the area.  A white or light color VW Jetta has also been seen a two locations.

If anyone has information on these crimes call Crime Line at 1-888 LOCK-U-UP.
