NORFOLK - Every child wants to be on Santa's 'nice' list in order to get the present he wants for Christmas. Some write Santa a letter to make sure he knows just the right gift to put under the tree.
Writing a letter to Santa this year and dropping it at Macy's department stores will bring much-needed help to sick children.
For every letter put in the special mailboxes inside Macy’s stores, the company will donate $1 to Make-a-Wish.
Macy’s hopes to raise a million dollars through its fifth annual Believe campaign. It was inspired by the “Yes, Virginia” letter written by 8-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon to the New York Sun in 1897 and the response from newsman Francis P. Church.
Make-a-Wish has received more than $50 million through various Macy's campaigns through the years.
