NORFOLK -- 373 fares were paid in the first five days of a trial bus service between Norfolk International Airport and downtown Norfolk.
33 fares were paid Sunday - the first day of Route 7 service. The next day, 108 fares were paid. The figures come from a summary report out of the bus farebox, said Hampton Roads Transit spokesman Tom Holden.
The trial service will end March 10. After that, officials will review the numbers to see if it makes financial sense to make the route permanent.
The buses run from 5:00 a.m. until 11:47 p.m. daily; the fare is $1.50 each way. The Route 7 bus leaves the airport, travels along Norview Avenue to Tidewater Drive to downtown Norfolk and ends at the Cedar Grove transfer facility.
