NEWPORT NEWS -- Hundreds are preparing to lace up their walking shoes and hit a three-mile trail to fight breast cancer.

The Peninsula’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk will be Saturday morning at the Mariner’s Museum in Newport News.

Participants will walk along a scenic course next to the James River.

The event honors breast cancer survivors, raises awareness on how to reduce the risk of breast cancer and raises money to help the American Cancer Society fight the disease.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m.

13 News Now Anchor Janet Roach will serve as a co-emcee.
