PORTSMOUTH -- A local business woman is working to help woman and girls at a Portsmouth shelter feel pretty this holiday season.
The owner of Pink Carpet Glam Girl, Tamika Quinn, has organized donations from area businesses and organizations of new or gently used purses/hand bags filled with toiletry items such as body wash, bath gels, perfume, make-up or nail polish.
“Purses with Purpose” has a mission this holiday season to remind the young girls and women of the H.E.R. Shelter that despite their current situation, they are still beautiful, Quinn says.
The idea is that women and girls who are down or their luck often do not feel pretty, thus contributing to low self-esteem and depression.
A motivational workshop and presentation of filled purses to young girls and women of H.E.R. Shelter is scheduled for 3 p.m. on December 19.
Filled purse donations are being accepted at the following locations through Wednesday, December 18:
