NORFOLK -- TFC Recycling and The Williams School are out to get to zero waste.

The first step to getting there was for TFC to conduct a waste audit -- sorting out actual waste products from recycling products -- to create a plan to reach zero waste.

"If it is trash, we are writing down soiled paper towel, soiled aluminum can. We are actually documenting every piece of waste we are coming across," explained Deborah Albero-Darati, TFC manager.

On Thursday, they found more than 30% of the trash products could have been recycled.

"If we don't recycle then the whole world will be covered in trash," said fourth grader Jordan Anderson.

TFC says no East Coast school is down to zero waste. Students and faculty at Williams School are committed to get there.
