NORFOLK -- Some quick and decisive storms whipped through Hampton Roads Wednesday night, knocking out power and causing damage in several neighborhoods.
Crews stayed busy through the night as they restored power and cleared roads where trees had fallen due to the powerful wind gusts.
In Ocean View, a brick wall came tumbling down during the storm at the Canterbury Bayside Condominiums.
"It was a good 20 minutes of downpour and non-stop wind," Shelly Hamilton noted.
One resident on Bainbridge Boulevard in Norfolk said her house caught fire after lightning struck it.
"I had just finished cooking lasagna and I went back into the living room and I heard a loud bang," said Linda Farrow.
Farrow said a neighbor knocked on her door and told her to get out because her house was on fire.
The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
More storms are expected to move through the region Thursday.
