NORFOLK -- Potholes are popping up from the second round of snow and ice.
While crews are busy trying to fill them, service stations are busy fixing cars that have run into them.
Damaged cars were already in the parking lot when workers arrived at the Wards Corner Shell station Monday. Mechanics were repairing damaged rims and tires and doing realignments; one vehicle completely lots its steering linkage.
They say if you encounter a pothole, do not apply the brakes.
"Don't because you are actually putting more stress on the tire and the rim when you hit the brakes when you hit the pothole. You're better to let the suspension take the force naturally by just rolling over it like you normally would," said Richard Quinn.
You can help your city find and fill potholes quickly by reporting them when you see them.
