PORTSMOUTH -- Police are searching for two people who robbed the Pure Gas Station on Victory Boulevard near Greenwood Drive around midnight Tuesday, just as a worker locked up.
"My employee," said owner Adnene Guesmi, "called me, like, around 12:15, and he said that he got robbed."
Guesmi, who has owned the business for more than a decade and has been robbed, himself, told 13News Now, "He was walking outside while he was locking the door. Two guys, they came in with two handguns, and they had, like their T-shirts wrapped around their head, and they got him at gunpoint, and they told him to open the door back, and come back inside the store because they wanted to rob him."
Police said the robbers demanded that the employee open the safe and give them cash. As one of them collected the money from the safe, the other person began taking cigarettes from the store shelves. Both then ran towards the neighborhood across the street from the gas station.
The employee was not hurt.
Guesmi noted that this and similar situations are "sad," saying, "You got employees work all day, like, I work. A lot of people, like, work all day, try to make a living, and you see someone came here with a gun and just robbed him like that."
The first suspect is described as a black man, approximately 6’ tall and weighing between 200 and 220 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white tank top and blue jeans.
The second suspect is described as a black man, approximately 5’5” tall and weighing between 165 and 170 pounds.
