PORTSMOUTH -- The City of Portsmouth is considering a change to the current code concerning overgrown grass and weeds.

Currently, a notice is given to residents who have grass and weeds 10 inches or higher.  Then, they have 28 days to cut their lawn.

The proposed changes would reduce the time for first violations to 12 days and zero days for repeat offenders.  Then, the city would correct the violation using a contractor.

Residents can contact the Department of Neighborhood Advancement at 393-8522 before May 23 with comments regarding the proposal.
