PORTSMOUTH -- Over a hundred friends and family turned out to a candlelight vigil honoring the life of Emmanuel Terry, shot dead near a church earlier this week.

Terry, 25, was shot near the Mt. Nebo Rzua Church on High Street on Monday, according to the Portsmouth Police Department.

"He was an older brother, like the best thing you could get as an older brother,” said Cori Terry through tears.

This is not the first tragedy to strike the Terry family.

In December 2012 Terry’s brother, Marquise, was shot to death at a house party in Portsmouth.

"What do we got to do around here ... for us to stop killing each other, point blank? I don't know,” said Terry.

No arrests have been made in the slaying of Emmanuel Terry.

Police ask that if anyone has information about who he was with, or where he was going on Monday, to call Crimeline at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
