NORFOLK -- A temporary park in downtown Norfolk is moving.

Work is underway to create The Plot II in the Downtown Arts District at the former Zedd's site at 776 Granby Street in May.

The original Plot was designed on an empty lot at the corner of Granby and Main streets and opened in June 2012. Volunteers installed donated cobblestones, planted flowers and created signs to fashion the common space complete with free Wi Fi, an amphitheater and seating areas to enjoy the outdoors in downtown.

A hotel and convention center is now planned for that space.

“We are creating synergy in the Arts District and anticipate even more development and inspiration in that area of downtown,” said Mary Miller, president and CEO of the Downtown Norfolk Council.

Volunteers are needed to begin removing plants and cobblestones. Click here for more information and how to sign up
