VIRGINIA BEACH -- At least one person was pinned after an SUV and a minivan collided at the intersection of Lynnhaven Parkway and South Independence Boulevard Saturday evening.

Emergency crews got to the scene shortly after 7:30 p.m.

Preliminary reports indicate that a 2005 Chevrolet Astrovan was traveling south on Lynnhaven when the driver attempted to make a left turn onto South Independence Boulevard.

During the same time a 1997 Chevrolet Suburban was driving north on Lynnhaven. Police say the Astrovan turned into the path of the SUV. The impact forced the van to roll onto its side.

The driver of the van was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
