WILLIAMSBURG -- Williamsburg Police responded to the Children`s Hospital of the King`s Daughters in Norfolk Saturday after receiving a report from the hospital of a sexual assault involving a girl under the age of 2.
According to police spokesman Maj. Greg Riley, the incident is alleged to have occurred between December 19 and 27 in a residence on Watson Drive.
Riley says it may take some time before there is an arrest due to the large time frame in which many people may have been in contact with the girl.
"Cases like this make me sick to my stomach," Riley said.
Riley says the child has been released from the hospital and placed in a "safe environment" by Human Services.
No arrests have been made and the incident is still under investigation.
