VIRGINIA BEACH -A group of residents is questioning the number of marine patrols on the Lynnhaven River and surrounding waterways.
"We have noticed an increase this last year," said Taylor Malbon with Marina Shores Marina. "It's become an annoyance for boaters."
With Virginia Beach Marine Patrol, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Virginia Marine Police all on the waterways, some people say enforcement has gotten excessive.
State Sen. Jeff McWaters organized a recent meeting with marine officials and local residents to discuss potential changes to the system.
"Some people are getting pulled over two to three times a day," said McWaters. "We want boaters to be safe, but people want to enjoy the water also."
