HAMPTON -- Parents are answering the call to get involved in Hampton City Schools.

It’s been a priority for the city for the last few years.

The effort is paying off on this National Parental Involvement Day.

At Spratley Middle School, staff credits parents with its new-found success, noting that even a half hour can make a difference in a child’s self-esteem and school work.

Staff hopes to add to it by getting even more parents involved in their child’s school.

The school says you don’t have to go to school to have an impact, noting there are simple activities to do at home to show your child you care about what's going on at school.
