NORFOLK -- One person is recovering from being shot after two shootings in the Park Place neighborhood late Monday night.
Police responded to the 400 block of W. 28th Street around 11:48 p.m. after neighbors heard gunfire. Officers found a man who was shot, and he was taken to the hospital. Authorities did not have any information on his injuries at this time.
About an hour later at 1:04 a.m. officers were called to the 600 block of 36th street for another shooting. Police found several shell casings in the street, and bullets shattered a car’s windshield.
Detectives are working to see if these two shootings are related. Dispatchers did not have any information on suspects.
Austin Boucher says the gunfire woke him up outside his 28th st. home. "I heard two shots, and then I heard about seven more." He says he saw a man running away, but couldn't get a clear description. Boucher is active duty military, and he just moved to Norfolk from California. He likes living close to Ghent, but he knows crime is a problem in Park place. "I'm glad I'm renting," he said.
