Currituck county school bus accident
CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C.-- A school bus was involved in an accident with a car on Thursday afternoon in Currituck County. The crash happened at Spot Road and U.S. 158 around 4:25pm.
Officer Jeff Wilson with the State Highway Patrol said the school bus from Jarvisburg Elementary was turning from Spot Road onto U.S. 168 to head south when a car going north hit it. The driver of the bus said she did not see the car coming.
The driver of the car was trapped for a short time but was quickly freed. He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General via Nightingale with non-life threatening injuries. A 7 mo. Old baby was strapped into a child safety seat in the back seat. The baby was not injured but was taken to Sentara too to be with the father.
There were 4 children on the bus. They and the driver were not injured. The bus driver has been charged with failing to yield the right of way.
