NEWPORT NEWS -- Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in the 900 block of Hollymeade Circle in Newport News.
According to Newport News Police spokeswoman Holly McPherson, officers responded to a call for a disorderly subject around 4:30 p.m.
The caller advised that the female was in a truck and was known to carry a firearm. When officers approached the suspect vehicle, the 29-year-old woman displayed a handgun.
"They kept telling her, get out of the car, get out of the car, and then I heard one of the officers say she has a gun," said Catina Lane who watched the shooting from her home.
After refusing orders to drop the gun, the officers fired their duty weapons at the female suspect, McPherson said. The woman was taken to the hospital with what appear to be non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
McPherson said no officers were injured during the incident.
The officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave.
