UPDATE 4/1: Jakwail Bailey was granted $5,000 bond in General District Court Tuesday. He will be monitored and is to have no contact with the victim, officials told 13News Now.
NORFOLK -- Old Dominion reserve wide receiver Jakwail Bailey has been arrested and charged with felonious malicious wounding, officials told 13News Now Thursday.
Records indicate that Bailey was arrested earlier this week by the ODU Police for an incident that occurred Sunday night on W. 39th Street.
ODU Head Coach Bobby Wilder said Bailey has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules following his arrest.
A native of Haddonfield, NJ, Bailey is a three-year member of the ODU football team. He had 18 receptions for 127 yards and two touchdowns in 2013.
According to Amanda Howie, a spokeswoman for the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney, Bailey will have a bond hearing on April 1. He will then have a preliminary hearing on April 28.
