Man pleads guilty to stabbing couple, taking credit cards

2/6 UPDATE: Jessie Bishop pleaded guilty to four felony charges - two each of malicious wounding and abduction.  He'll be sentenced on May 1.

In court Thursday, it was made clear the couple he attacked wasn't his parents but friends and he didn't take their Social Security check.

They testified in court and spoke to 13News Now afterwards.

Roberta Howe said, "I do want his children to know that I don't hate him. I love him like a son. I hate what he did to us. I tried to treat him with respect and I just don't understand why he did this to us."

10/23 UPDATE: The bond hearing was withdrawn at the request of Bishop's attorney, said Commonwealth's Attorney spokeswoman Amanda Howie. He's due in court for a preliminary hearing on December 9.

10/18 4 p.m.:  Bishop is being held in the City Jail.  No bond was issued.

10/18 11:30 a.m. UPDATE: Bishop was arrested at 12:15 a.m. Friday in the 1200 block of Sunset Drive. Police say a Crime Line tip help locate the suspect.

The parents, who had adopted him, are recovering from serious injuries.

NORFOLK-- Police are looking for a man they say stabbed his mother and father Thursday afternoon.

Investigators want to find 37-year-old Jessie E. Bishop, who lives in the 7000 block of Wellington Road.

According to police,  Bishop stabbed his parents after his father refused to turn over his Social Security check to him. The stabbing happened around 1:40 p.m.

A fight began with his father and his mother tried to intervene.  She was stabbed in the process. Both parents throats were cut.  They were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.

Warrants were secured for Malicious Wounding for Bishop.

Bishop is described as a white male with short brown hair, 6'2" tall and  160lbs. He has tribal, skull and flame tattoos on his right and left arms and shoulders.
