NORFOLK— Bikers rode to raise money for breast cancer in the “Rev it up for Relay for Life.”

The Norfolk Sheriff’s office puts on the event each year, raising thousands of dollars for Relay for Life.

"Portsmouth, Virginia has one of the top death rates for African American women from breast cancer.  Those are our neighbors; we need to help those ladies.  We can get you mammograms; we can get you what you need,” Laurie Jesz said.

Lt. Colonel Cindy Borum has worked for Norfolk Sheriff Bob McCabe for nearly 20 years. Five years ago, she had a double mastectomy, but hasn’t let that stop her from supporting the cancer ride.

"It doesn't matter if it's breast cancer, whether it's ovarian, whether it's rectal or prostate. That’s what relay is all about;  it's about all of them."
