NORFOLK--Police are investigating vandalism in two areas of the city. One of the acts of vandalism was caught on tape by a homeowner.
Norfolk police spokesman, Chris Amos, says that the vandalism occurred over the weekend in the area of Ingleside and also near Norvella Avenue. He says the crimes in the two neighborhoods are not related.
Amos says there were about two cases on Norvella and about 5 or 6 off Ingleside Road.
One homeowner on Norvella Avenue caught the vandals on video with a camera system he has set up around his house.
Leon Brzezowski says it's just this type of activity that prompted him to buy the video equipment,
"They broke our windshield on the driver's side door, " he says, "There's a lot of activity in the neighborhood that's probably not lawful...just trying to protect myself and my neighbors."
In fact he has counted 7 neighbors on his street who have been hit by vandals.
"I feel bad for the other people who may not be able to afford to pay for their car right away", says Brzezowski, "and that's not right...they should be able to pay for those damanges."
His wife is angry.
"This is not the first time this happened and it seems like they get away with it", she says "I'm tired of it and I think they need to be caught. I'm tired...for something some punk kid has done."
