NEWPORT NEWS -- A Newport News teen was shot in the face while inside her apartment Tuesday morning. Police believe the bullet came through the wall of an apartment next door to the victim.
According to police spokesman Lou Thurston, the 18-year-old was struck in the 600 block of Aqua Vista Drive around 1 a.m.
The victim was transported to the hospital. Due to her injuries, she was later transferred to a Richmond-area hospital.
Thurston says the injuries don't appear to be life-threatening.
Police have interviewed several people and continue to investigate, Thurston said.
