NEWPORT NEWS -- One person was arrested after he allegedly drove his car into a Newport News home early Sunday morning.
According to police, officers tried to pull over 21-year-old Donte Lorenzo Solomon around 5:30 a.m near 23rd Street and Orcutt Avenue.
Solomon didn't stop, struck a fire hydrant and then veered into a house located in the 2400 block of Chestnut Avenue, police said.
According to police, Solomon fled the scene on foot and was apprehended a short distance away.
Four adults and two children were inside the home. No one was injured, however the family had to temporarily relocate.
Solomon is charged with reckless driving, evade and elude police, leaving the scene of an accident, revoked license, resisting arrest, two counts of assault on law enforcement, DWI, DWI refusal and driving with an open container.
