NEWPORT NEWS--Police say a man who robbed the Bayport Credit Union in Newport News Thursday closely resembles the suspect in the robbery of the Sun Trust Bank on Monday.

According to police, around 3 p.m. Thursday a man entered the Bayport Credit Union at 12512 Warwick Boulevard and passed a note to the teller demanding money.  He fled the bank with an unknown amount of cash.

No one was injured during the robbery.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall,  175 to 180 pounds.  He was wearing a dark shirt, tan or white cargo-style pants, white sneakers and a ball cap with a Polo emblem on the front.  Police say his hair appeared to be in a ponytail.

Monday, police say a suspect gave a Sun Trust Bank teller a note demanding money, received an undisclosed amount of cash and then ran away.

The suspect was wearing a green shirt and jeans.   Police say he discarded bifocal glasses and a ponytail wig a short distance from the bank.

Anyone with information on either of these robberies is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
