NEWPORT NEWS -- A Newport News man allegedly sent inappropriate photographs and messages over the Internet to a child in Louisiana.

The Newport News Police Cyber Crimes Unit and Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office began an investigation on November 1 after getting information from authorities in Louisiana.

Yesterday, Timothy James Maness, 27, was arrested at his Randolph Road home on 13 counts of attempted indecent liberties with a child and six counts of using a communications system to facilitate certain crimes against a child.

Authorities say it's possible he contacted other juveniles.

Anyone with information about this case or with concerns that their child may have had contact with Maness should call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

Police are not releasing where in Louisiana contact was made because of the ongoing investigation.
