Navy helo crew returns Saturday from Haiti relief duty

NORFOLK -- Helicopter personnel who took part in the Navy's humanitarian effort in Haiti are returning home Saturday.

Two MH-60S Seahawks and 32 personnel from Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 28 flew aoard USNS Comfort on January 16.

During the 39-day effort, the helo crews transported more than 1,700 passengers, nearly 615,000 pounds of food, water, medical supplies, mail and cargo.

Comfort is due in Saturday to drop off medical personnel from Hampton Roads who also deployed for the relief effort.

Comfort will then return to her homeport in Baltimore.
