DARE COUNTY, NC -- Hurricane Earl is long gone, but people on the Outer Banks did have some cleaning up to do.
The storm brought down some trees and limbs, fences and more last week.
Starting next Tuesday through Friday, the N.C. Department of Transportation will pick up storm-related debris along state-maintained highways in Dare County only.
Debris such as trees and limbs must be kept out of the roadway and property owners are asked to cut the debris into five- or six-foot pieces, if possible.
NCDOT stresses no construction, demolition or hazardous materials or appliances will be collected.
