RALEIGH, NC- Take eight teams, hundreds of journalists, and a couple of thousand dedicated basketball fans...and what you have is the "day before" NCAA basketball tournament play at the PNC Arena in Raleigh, NC. There are eight teams in two different "pods" here in Raleigh, including the NCAA East regional pod headlined by #1 seed Virginia.

Today is a where each team gets 40 minutes to practice on the arena floor....and face questions from the media. UVA's media session is at 4:30 with a practice to follow.

One of the more interesting things is the media rooms. There, local stations and newspapers are hearing cover headline teams like Duke, UVA, and Memphis...and lesser known teams like Mercer and Virginia's opponent, Coastal Carolina.

Inside the media rooms, you have journalists...many of whom love March Madness. Dozens huddled around TV monitors to watch the last few seconds of Dayton's upset of Ohio State in a South region battle. They cheered like fans when Dayton scored the game winning bucket with just under 4 seconds left.

There's a lot of buzz around the Virginia Cavaliers as media outlets from all over the state plus Washington, DC are here to cover the Wahoos (the DC stations are also covering their hometown team, George Washington University).

The 13Sports team will be here in Raleigh to cover all of the events involving Virginia plus we'll head over to Chapel Hill on Saturday when the Hampton Lady Pirates arrive for NCAA women's basketball tournament action.
