ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (AP) -- A dog rescued from death row now has a home in North Carolina after surviving a car crash and 24 days lost in Virginia.
The Rocky Mount Telegram reported that Felix is a beagle-German shepherd mix rescued from the Nash County Animal Shelter.
After staying with Amy Woodworth of Rocky Mount during treatment for heartworm, Felix was headed to a rescue group in Vermont. Their van crashed on Interstate 95 in Emporia and Felix was ejected.
A network of animal lovers in North Carolina and Virginia worked together to search for Felix and a Facebook page was even made. The dog was found last week at an apartment complex in Emporia.
Now he has a home with Woodworth and her boyfriend's family.
