PORTSMOUTH -- People throughout Portsmouth may get a call from police soon.

The message: Turn-off and lock-up your cars.

Between Thursday and Friday night, four cars were stolen in different parts of the city. In each case, officers say the car was unlocked and running.

The police department may take advantage of its reverse 9-1-1 capabilities, using the phone system to call people reminding them to secure their cars.

Vehicles were targeted on the following streets:

  • Victory Boulevard
  • Trafalgar Arch
  • High Street
  • Mount Vernon Avenue

If you witness any suspicious activity, you are asked to call Portsmouth Police Department immediately.
