RICHMOND-Tonight's Mega Millions jackpot just took a big jump. It's now at $425 million, thanks to a surge in sales Friday. It started the day at $400 million.
"This is the second largest Mega Millions and fifth-largest overall," Virginia Lottery spokesman John Hagerty told WVEC.com.
Virginia is the lead state for the Mega Millions game and officials say about 32 percent of the possible combinations of numbers had been sold by Friday morning.
The winning ticket must match the six numbers drawn.
Mega Millions is played in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
