Marijuana worth over a million dollars discovered in Mathews County

MATHEWS--Police have arrested a man and charged him with maintaining a marijuana grow operation worth over a million dollars

On Tuesday around 1:08 p.m., the Mathew’s Sheriff Office received a 911 call about a house fire in the Cobbs Creek area of the county.  Fire units arrived at 2722 Buckley Hall Road and found a two story frame residence on fire. 

While fighting the blaze, firefighters discovered what they believed to be marijuana plants throughout the 2nd floor.

 office personnel who were already on the scene initiated an investigation, detaining the home owner and obtaining a search warrant. 

Agents of the Tri-Rivers Taskforce were called to assist with processing and collecting evidence. It is estimated the value of the grow to be over 1 million 56 thousand dollars.  The investigation is on-going. 

Arrested was Kenneth M. Putt, 48,  of Cobbs Creek.  He's charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and manufacturing.
