James V. Rankin, 31 was charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

ACCOMACK COUNTY -- One person has been charged with shooting a Melfa man on Sunday.

According to Sheriff Todd Godwin, the victim was shot around 2:30 a.m. during an altercation on Back Street.  

The victim was transported by EMS to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he was treated and released.

James V. Rankin, 31 was charged with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. 

Rankin is incarcerated in the Accomack County Jail with no bond.
