WILLIAMSBURG -- The Williamsburg Police Department and Virginia State Police are investigating an early morning incident where a man was struck and killed by a CSX train.

State Police say the accident happened around 1:15 Monday morning on Richmond Road at the Bypass Bridge.

Police say CSX crew members saw a man lying motionless on the tracks not moving as the train signaled and approached. The train, hauling 100 empty coal cars to Richmond, was unable to stop in time.

The still unidentified man had no identification on him.  Police are trying to make an ID and the investigation continues.
